ESTONIA 100: M&D – POETRY PERFORMANCE 19:00
Teatteri Vanha Juko , Rautatienkatu 13
Performance is based on estonian poet Hasso Krull’s epic poetry collection Meter & Demeter and includes composed music. Directed by Jukka Hyde Hytti, who will be also playing Meter.Ilona Korhonen as Demeter, lyrics and brass instrument by Hepa Halme, vocals and tubaTaito Hoffrén, percussion by Markus Ketola.
After the performance poet Hasso Krull and translator of the Meter & Demeter, director of the Finnish Institute in Estonia, Anu Laitila, will be interviewed by Heidi Iivari.

RISTO AHTI – POETRY SEMINAIRE from 10:00 to 13:00
Risto Ahti is one of the leading Finnish poets, celebrating his 50th anniversary as a published poet: his first collection was published in 1968. He is also a recognized and well esteemed teacher of poetry and creative writing. After the interview of the poet, we hear thoughts of five Finnish poets, J. K. Ihalainen, Jonimatti Joutsijärvi, Riikka Palander, Juha Rautio and Saila Susiluoto, about Ahti’s philosophy and writing. Time will be reserved for open comments and conversation.

Poet Saila Susiluoto presents poetry from her latest collection Metropolis (Otava 2017) and prosaist Markku Pääskynen plays the ud-lute. Saila Susiluoto’s interview.
PROSE PAUSE: HEIDI KÖNGÄS 15:30
Writer-director Heidi Köngäs presents her latest novel Sandra (Otava 2017) describing the events of 1918 civil war in Finland from a young woman’s and mother’s point of view. Interview by theater director Timo Taulo.

Dxxxa D is a Finnish rap artist, poet and visual artist who mixes spoken word and free jazz in his music. Joose Keskitalo is a charismatic Finnish indie singer-songwriter whose music has elements from Savonian melancholy and Christian beliefs. The evening ends with the Finnish indie folk band Samoaja.

Three Japanese visual artists visit Finnish painter Asta Pulkkinen’s courtyard close to the idyllic surroundings of the Medieval Church of Hollola. Shin Tanaka, Mayako Hakusui and Tica Sekine exhibit their artwork in an old granary. Asta Pulkkinen’s own studio and summer cafe is also be open daily during the exhibition.
